Hello, dear visitors!
I’m proud to announce that Tomb Raider Journey has recently opened its very own forum dedicated to cosplay! I am co-administrating it with Lili, one of my very best friends, and we are proudly affiliated with Julie’s “Cosplay Lara Croft” forum.
By registering, you will be able to see our latest photo galleries, but also to post you own, to interact with the other members, to take part in TRJ’s contests and even perhaps to be our “Cosplayer of the Month”! We aim at creating a friendly community by sharing ideas, cosplay tips and by giving everyone the opportunity to express their creativity. The forum is mostly in French, but we welcome visitors from all countries! English, Spanish, German and even Chinese are spoken by some of our current members. So don’t be afraid to take this new journey with us!

Underworld: the Doppelgänger

I always knew I would go back to the Fort du Haut Buc. What I didn’t know was that I would go back there with a partner in crime I had asked Lili to be the Lara to my Doppelgänger, and she was as excited as I was to do this photoshoot! Pascal kindly agreed to join in the madness, and we had a great time taking photos, and also shooting scenes for yet another short video. Seizing the occasion, Lili had brought a jar of raspberry coulis because she wanted things to get bloody between us Oh boy, I never got that dirty doing a cosplay shoot, but what a blast! The only thing that bothered me was my stupid wig. I really wanted to wear one because my hair wasn’t long enough for a braid, and I didn’t want to dye it red… but it didn’t look good at all x)
To be honest, we didn’t initially plan to go back to the fort. But then again, we didn’t plan a lot of what happened (we hadn’t drawn a storyboard or anything like that). It took us some time to get inside, as the former hole in the fence had been closed up, but a bunch of English guys helped us by pointing out another way inside. It was our lucky day!
Featuring the gorgeous Lili as Lara Croft. Both costumes were made by yours truly.

Doing photoshoots is fun, but sometimes not enough! After all, Lara is an action heroine, so when I get the opportunity I like to tape my very own adventures. Each new addition to this section will hopefully help me improve my rendition of Lara Croft, and show you a little more of the incredible places my photoshoots take me to! (the following videos have been filmed and edited by Pascal a.k.a Aoshi, who also takes most of my pictures)

However, please don’t take these too seriously, they’re amateur cosplay videos that are just meant to entertain

New photoshoot! Almost a year after the first one, here’s a set of pictures taken in a very interesting (yet forbidden) place called the Désert de Retz. It’s basically a large park (or 40-ha “garden”) with ruins scattered all over it. It makes for an excellent location for Lara shots if you don’t fear ticks, chiggers or getting caught by the occasional ranger… But the park is so magical and quiet! I love that there are amazing places like that in the very region I live in.
Costume improvements: having sold the old one, I made a new backpack. The top is also new, but I am still not happy with it! Which means I’ll probably end up selling it. Ahh the joys of being a perfectionist!

Finally some decent pictures in the well-known Legend outfit. Somehow this costume is giving me a hard time! It still needs some adjustments, but I really wanted to bring it with me to Kenya, for I knew this would be an amazing opportunity to do some Ghana-inspired shots!
You will easily understand why I did not take any pictures in the savannah (Lara goes on safari?!). The falls provided exactly the kind of background I wanted, and I would’ve done the swan dive if it had been possible! In a Kenyan park and in August, you’d think the water was fine, but it was actually incredibly cold (more than 5 minutes in it and my legs would have turned blue); the rain poured the day before, explaining the temperature. Please forgive the crazy hair and the absence of USP guns, as they are not allowed in the country.
I will probably do another photoshoot when this (apparently cursed) costume is 100% finished.

Underworld: Jungle Heavy

Lara’s biker outfit in Underworld. This photoshoot was quite an adventure in itself!
First, I should thank M. Muller of Boreally for his urban exploration-inspired pictures, because that’s how I discovered the Fort du Haut Buc. It’s an abandoned fort built in the middle of a forest, which you can only access after getting past iron gates, and following an extensive trail of paths. But those gates are, of course, never open to the public. So we had to sneak in! Thankfully, some kids had cut a hole in the fence surrounding the place, which made it easier for us to get inside with all of our equipment
Once we set foot on the trail, it felt like a real exploration! The place was huge, and completely deserted: pretty much the atmosphere of a Tomb Raider level!
After putting our gear on, we went inside the fort and saw most of it (in spite of the dark). The place was big and creepy enough to host an army of ghosts, but I had too much fun exploring it to worry about that

Sale: Lara costume elements!

Well, I have to confess that I have been spending a lot of money lately, so now I need to make some money myself (since I’d like to be able to make more costumes)! I am therefore forced to part with some costumes, and elements of my Lara gear! The following things will hopefully interest other Lara/Tomb Raider cosplayers. TOMB RAIDER LEGEND BACKPACK SOLD!

A base was used to make this backpack: I made a cover out of PVC and imitation leather, then glued, sewed and added rivets so that the pack is sturdy. It can be opened (the base has a zipper, and I added some velcro), and you can put anything you like in it (except maybe a bazooka :P). You can also adjust the straps to your size, and elastic band has been sewed to one of them to strap a flashlight.
Measurements: Length 27 cm X Width 22cm

Underworld: Jungle w/ pants

I had noticed this factory long before we set out to do this photoshoot. It reminded me of the Kazakhstan levels in Legend, but with a bit of investigation I decided that the setting would also look close enough to Amanda’s ship in Underworld. The pros: not a soul was there at night, so we could take our time without being interrupted. The cons: the COLD. And the ridiculous fact that I stepped in fresh cement! (which I was able to clean up, thankfully)
My talented friend Enelia did my makeup and hair.

Angel of Darkness: standard outfit

This is a photoshoot I had planned for quite some time: when I first saw photos of the Serres, I was immediately reminded of the Bio-Research Facility in Angel of Darkness. Gorgeous tropical plants, lots of space and lovely old-fashioned greenhouses. That level in AOD had always been one of my favorite (I absolutely adore colorful and exotic settings), so it seemed like the right place to go.
Thankfully not a lot of people visit this place in August (given the temperature, hiding in the heat and humidity of a greenhouse would seem kind of pointless…). And you can access most of the greenhouses for free (or rather, without asking). Too bad we couldn’t get to the roofs, because their structure looked amazing and very TR-ish!

Anniversary: standard outfit

Probably one of my favorite Lara designs: a modernized classic Lara. I made it for this year’s Japan Expo, knowing I would be meeting other Tomb Raider cosplayers there (otherwise I wouldn’t have gone to such a huge convention as Lara). However, the Parc des Expos was clearly not the ideal location for Anniversary, so we decided to do a photoshoot in the Parc de Bagatelle, which is a beautiful, quiet park with waterfalls and caves! Excellent weather conditions too.
The caves and waterfalls reminded me very much of the Lost Valley. We were only missing a T-rex and a bunch of velociraptors! (and a grappling device…)

Angel of Darkness: Louvre Galleries

What better place than the Louvre to do an Angel of Darkness, Louvre levels photoshoot? I am lucky enough to live in Paris, so this was easily the cheapest trip to a shoot location!
Fortunately, not many people come to the Louvre at night to take a walk around the pyramid and galleries, even though the museum looks much more beautiful with the lighting. I personally do it quite often, so why not take a walk around as Lara? (despite the January chilliness!)
However, as much as I’d LOVE to take photos inside, this is just not possible. Or you’d have to try breaking and entering like Lara in the game, which I wouldn’t recommend So forgive me for not being able to testify that there is indeed a “Tomb of the Ancients” beneath the Louvre! :þ
